Publication of Amendments to the Federal Courts Rules and the Federal Courts Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection Rules
The Rules Amending the Federal Courts Rules and the Federal Courts Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection Rules were approved by Her Excellency the Governor General in Council and registered on November 21, 2025. They were published in Part II of the Canada Gazette on December 3, 2025, and will come into force on December 21, 2025.
These rules amend Tariff B of the Federal Courts Rules. They also update terminology in both the Federal Courts Rules and the Federal Courts Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection Rules by replacing the term “prothonotary” with “associate judge”.
